SC Partners with TEEX to offer

FREE Online Cybersecurity Courses in the Palmetto State



   Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service


COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 1, 2017) - Statewide cybersecurity organization SC Cyber announced the launch of the South Carolina Infrastructure Protection Center (SCIPC) with the creation of an online portal offering free cybersecurity courses.  The courses are being offered through a partnership with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX).


Online Programs include a variety of technical and non-technical courses available via the portal.  The portal can be accessed from the SC Cyber website at


"We have been able to provide the citizens of South Carolina with an excellent educational resources by partnering with TEEX," said SC Cyber Executive Director Tom Scott.  "These courses will appeal to the average citizen, the average business professional and also provide those professionals in the IT field with a more in-depth look at how cyber impacts their jobs."


The courses are segmented into three categories or tracks:


Cyber 101         Cybersecurity for Everyone


Cyber 201         Cybersecurity for Business Professionals


Cyber 301         Cybersecurity for IT Professionals.


The web-based courses are designed to ensure that the privacy, reliability, and integrity of the information systems that power the global economy remain intact and secure. The web-based courses are offered through three discipline-specific tracks: general, non-technical computer users; technical IT professionals; and business managers and professionals.


These courses are certified by the American Council on Education (ACE) for recommended college credit at the completion of each track.
