SC Cyber Hosts Savannah River Region Kickoff Event
COLUMBIA, S.C. (February 28, 2017) - Statewide cybersecurity organization SC Cyber announces an upcoming community outreach and awareness kickoff event slated for March 2, 2017 from 4pm – 7pm at the North Augusta Municipal Complex (Palmetto Terrace Ballroom).
Partnering with the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce, the Savannah River National Laboratory, and the University of South Carolina-Aiken, SC Cyber hopes to jumpstart the ‘cyber’ conversation in the Aiken and North Augusta area.
The purpose of the kickoff event will be to introduce the small and medium sized businesses in the Savannah River Region to the cybersecurity resources offered by the State’s universities and industry partners across South Carolina. The event will also offer opportunities for industry, academia, and government to learn about cybersecurity education, initiatives, and opportunities in South Carolina.
“We are excited about the cyber opportunities being created in the Savannah River region” said Tom Scott, Executive Director of SC Cyber. “With the pending move of the United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) to Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia, the entire area is growing to provide a robust cyber community both on and off the base.”
Invited speakers include US Congressman Joe Wilson and SC Representative Katie Arrington.
